What follows is a synopsis of the high points along the email thread.  To decide for yourself just how entirely insane these people are, you can read all of the email threads here.

Don't forget to return to my home page and vote in the Poll to the right.

My request was a simple one, all I wanted was a quote on a Nissan Frontier King Cab 4x4 V-6 Automatic Transmission with no options.  I even restated the request in no uncertain terms. Of course nobody generally stocks those because they'd rather try to pressure people into buying stupid shit like a "Value package" containing such all important items as an in-cabin microfilter (that you'll have to replace often), aluminum wheels, floor mats and the like...

The first email was of course a form letter kissing my ass for requesting a quote from them.  Then it gets very amusing in the next email:

During the email transfer from Nissan to the Tri-City Nissan Internet
Department some specific information is occasionally left out. I have a couple of clarifying questions that will help me accurately define the exact options and equipment that you desire on your Frontier.
'what made you come to the Internet to look for your next vehicle?
This question is irrelevant, if I wanted to take a survey I'd ask.
- Have you experienced poor customer service with another dealer, or do you
simply prefer the easy access to information that shopping over the
Internet provides?
I am surely  experiencing poor customer service now!
- What standard equipment and option packages are most important to you?
What the hell did I ask for in the first place?  Was my very specific vehicle request vague?
- Are there any options or specific directions with regard to pricing that I need to include in your quote?
Another thing I provided in the original message.
If I don't hear from you shortly, that's okay. I may have to make a few assumptions about what you want, but I will still call with a price quote. That's my commitment to you. I understand that your time is valuable.

And will they ever "make a few ASSumptions".  Disregarding my specific request is the first ASSumption they'll make.

Even though my original query included all of the relevant details, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and restated my exact specifications.  I know this configuration is available as I created is on the Nissan website, not like I'm asking for a quote on a space shuttle.

Then comes the next email (in response to my very specific request):

The Frontiers I found in an SE 4X4 king cab also have the power package on them. You could order the truck to get one without that additional equipment. What are you currently driving?

As you can see, another attempt to screw me by trying to get information that is not relevant to the discussion at hand, might as well ask what I'm currently eating.  Of course still no quote.  My response was:

As I said, I want the base model King Cab SE 4x4 with auto and v6, nothing else.  If that means ordering then that's the price I would like quoted.

What I am currently driving is irrelevant to the discussion.

The next from them:

Would you consider a Crew Cab Frontier? I have a base V6 4X4 automatic crew cab in stock.

What the hell?  My response to that was a simple, no. Probably didn't bother reading any of my previous emails.  Frickin moron.  I then get an email from a different source account (same domain, same dealer):

DID YOU SEE THE ONE ON OUR WEBSITE FOR$19990?

Well, I hadn't. And of course when I looked, there was none. Not a single Frontier at that price, at this point I'm wondering how they could have so many idiots working a the same place!  I politely reminded this person (whoever it was) what I'm looking for and to not bother me if they can't provide it.

Then, I get an email from the first person:

I'd be happy to call you with a price quote. What is the best number to reach you? The number you supplied (330-456-0773) is apparently not your number. P.S. I did not send you that last email.

Someone else got on and sent it so just ignore it.

What the hell?  Are these people idiots?  I did this over the net so I wouldn't have to talk to vacuous morons like this.  And this persons email sig claims she's the 'Internet Manager'.  Why would they need my phone number (above number is a titty bar, like I'm going to give them my real phone)?  And who's in charge there? My response:

I will not be accessible via phone for quite a while so the only way to contact me is via email.

I will restate my requirements one more time. Frontier 4x4 SE, Kind Cab, Short Bed, V-6, Automatic transmission with NO OPTIONS.  If you can provide that exact configuration, I would appreciate a quote. I am not interested in anything that is 'similar', my requirements are very specific in nature.

Thanks.

And then it's back to the 'screamer':

$19990 AS SPECIFIED

What is he/she/it saying?  This could be a claim that they have one (even though the Internet Manager seems to think they do not), but it's not very specific.  I didn't bother responding to the screamer, seemed a waste of time. Then it's back to the Internet Manager (trimmed for brevity):

I emailed you a link from  Edmunds. Our price would be less then that. Call me at 330-633-3234 for an exact quote.

Again, what the hell?  And they didn't email me any link *from* Edmunds.. there was one in the email that was a link *to* Edmunds.  I had already stated I'm not available by phone, but being a nice guy.. and considering the screamer email from above.  Here is my response:.

Thanks for your time, I am unable to get to a phone during business hours for a while so will be unable to call.

What I don't understand is why a link to Edmunds and a statement that your price would be cheaper (I of course already have the Edmunds data), without simply quoting me a price? Not to mention whomever it is emailing from This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it stated:

$19990 AS SPECIFIED

Which considering the market conditions does not seem likely to be the vehicle that I require.

To be quite frank, this type of activity does not lead me to believe I'm being dealt with in a forthright manner.

And then the screamer again:

IF YOU WANT THE ONE IN STOCK ITS THE LAST ONE I HAVE.I KNOW IT HAS A FEW MORE OPTIONS THAN SPECIFIED BUT TO ORDER WOULD BE THE SAME PRICE..WE ARE WILLING TO DISCOUNT THE ONE WE HAVE TO MOVE IT NOW.

Unsigned email from an 'isales'  user doesn't carry much weight with me.  Considering the price, I suspect the twit is trying to sell me a loaded 4cyl with manual trans.. not even close.

My response to that was basically along the lines of "what the hell are you talking about?  What vehicle, exactly what configuration?  How about you give me the stock number so I can see on your website what exactly it is?"

There were a few more, the screamer sent an email with "re: $19990" as the subject, and asking if I want them to order 'as specified'.  Still no answers to any of my questions.  And the twit 'Internet Manager' sent some spam mail asking me to sell them my car, I wouldn't sell them the sweat off my nadsack.

The final straw was this:

I have your price on the exact vehicle. Call me at 330-633-3234 and I will give it to you over the phone.

To which I responded:

How many times do I have to write this, I am not accessible via phone. Why in the world would I contact you via email for a quote and then make a phone call? Not only that but I wouldn't even accept a quote over the phone as a valid quote at all.

The only reason I bothered responding to your last few emails was for my own personal amusement. I couldn't wait to see what kind of idiotic response I'd get next. Between you and whoever else it is sending me emails, I've come to realize that attempting to purchase a vehicle through Tri-City Nissan is a complete waste of my time.

Then the truth came out (or so it seems).  I received a response from the screamer, either it's the same person or they finally decided to compare notes.   Suffice it to say that email claimed they offer the best prices anywhere... and then continues to 'doubt' I'd be able to find a better price.  Weird, either they offer the best prices or not....but they doubt.

They also decided to look at my business websites and claimed to get amusement out of my postings there.  Calling me cynical, and insinuating that I must have a horrible life.  Hrm, they find security, identity theft and stealing credit card numbers amusing?   Is it cynical to point out security flaws and risks?  Now there is really no way I'd ever give them the time of day, much less an SSN or any personal information.

In the last email, they claimed (all uppercase of course) that they had given me a quote on the vehicle, and they can't understand the confusion.  They still think the above steaming pile of horse manure qualifies as a quote.  I'll let my readers decide.

This is about the most idiotic string of crap I've ever seen spewed from a the email of a supposed business.  I guess the only reason this place survives is because there are enough idiots to keep them running (both customers and employees).
