Tri-City Nissan - Entire email thread |

I'm going to attempt to show the entire thread in the best manner I can. As I was getting emails from 2 different addresses (still not sure if it's two different people) this may get kinda ugly. At least it will allow folks to see the entire exchange, the only things that will be cut out are repeating signatures and the like.
Note that there are several items such at that were put into the text version of the emails by their system (not mine). I left those in, you'd think they would have a email system worked properly.
Any 'editorial notes' will be in red

During the email transfer from Nissan to the Tri-City Nissan Internet Department some specific information is occasionally left out. I have a couple of clarifying questions that will help me accurately define the exact options and equipment that you desire on your Frontier. - What made you come to the Internet to look for your next vehicle?
- Have you experienced poor customer service with another dealer, or do you simply prefer the easy access to information that shopping over the Internet provides? - What standard equipment and option packages are most important to you? - Are there any options or specific directions with regard to pricing that I need to include in your quote? - Do you prefer light or dark colors? If I don't hear from you shortly, that's okay. I may have to make a few assumptions about what you want, but I will still call with a price quote. That's my commitment to you. I understand that your time is valuable.
I look forward to working with you,

Brenden, The Frontiers I found in an SE 4X4 king cab also have the power package on them. You could order the truck to get one without that additional equipment. What are you currently driving?

As I said, I want the base model King Cab SE 4x4 with auto and v6, nothing else. If that means ordering then that's the price I would like quoted.
What I am currently driving is irrelevant to the discussion.

As I said in my notes (perhaps that was removed). I require a Frontier 4x4 King cab SE, V-6 Auto trans. No options. As far as colors I'm fairly confident that the vehicle would have to be ordered anyway, so I'm sure I could pick one out. I would of course consider any color that might be in stock, as long as it meets my requirements.

I see none for that price on either your new or used inventory. It seems that you have also ignored my specific vehicle request. You can either provide me with a quote on a Frontier XE 4x4, V-6, Automatic transmission with NO OPTIONS or I will go elsewhere.

Brenden, Hi. I'd be happy to call you with a price quote. What is the best number to reach you? The number you supplied (330-456-0773) is apparently not your number.
P.S. I did not send you that last email. Someone else got on and sent it so just ignore it.

It seems I transposed numbers. Be that as it may, I will not be accessible via phone for quite a while so the only way to contact me is via email.
I will restate my requirements one more time.
Frontier 4x4 SE, Kind Cab, Short Bed, V-6, Automatic transmission with NO OPTIONS.
According to another Nissan dealer this configuration is unavailable in the U.S. That being the case I will be taking my business to another manufacturer. If you can provide that exact configuration, I would appreciate a quote. I am not interested in anything that is 'similar', my requirements are very specific in nature.
Thanks.

Brenden, I'm not sure why the other Nissan dealer said you could not get the vehicle configured the way you want it. The only thing I can think of is that most of the time they won't let us order vehicles without accessory items like floor mats and splash guards. I emailed you a link from Edmunds. Our price would be less then that. Call me at 330-633-3234 for an exact quote.

Thanks for your time, I am unable to get to a phone during business hours for a while so will be unable to call.
What I don't understand is why a link to Edmunds and a statement that your price would be cheaper (I of course already have the Edmunds data), without simply quoting me a price? Not to mention whomever it is emailing from

Which considering the market conditions does not seem likely to be the vehicle that I require.
To be quite frank, this type of activity does not lead me to believe I'm being dealt with in a forthright manner.

How many times do I have to write this, I am not accessible via phone. Why in the world would I contact you via email for a quote and then make a phone call? Not only that but I wouldn't even accept a quote over the phone as a valid quote at all.
The only reason I bothered responding to your last few emails was for my own personal amusement. I couldn't wait to see what kind of idiotic response I'd get next. Between you and whoever else it is sending me emails, I've come to realize that attempting to purchase a vehicle through Tri-City Nissan is a complete waste of my time.

I have several blogs, I suspect you are referring to the security related blog at my main business site. Any amusement you get out of that is likely due to a limited understanding of the issue, or perhaps you get amusement out of identity theft, stolen credit card numbers or a criminal emptying personal bank accounts? Now that is a shame, and certainly raises a serious concern on my part for the security of your customers personal data.
Fact is that you never offered anything concrete beyond requests to call and emails with a price that was connected with no information about a specific vehicle.
I'm sure the readers of my personal blog will just love a posting on this exchange. Ever since the Wall Street Journal article last year it gets a lot of activity.

Who gave me a price? Whoever is emailing from this address started out by giving false information:
"DID YOU SEE THE ONE ON OUR WEBSITE FOR$19990?"
When in fact there was not. Then when asked for the stock number so I could identify what it was being discussed, this did not answer the question:
"$19990 AS SPECIFIED"
And then this, again still not providing any details:
"IF YOU WANT THE ONE IN STOCK ITS THE LAST ONE I HAVE.I KNOW IT HAS A FEW MORE OPTIONS THAN SPECIFIED BUT TO ORDER WOULD BE THE SAME PRICE..WE ARE WILLING TO DISCOUNT THE ONE WE HAVE TO MOVE IT NOW"
All the while I'm trying to get a solid quote for a vehicle from Rose Strelbicki and all I get is information on vehicles that I am not interested in and requests to call when I stated repeatedly that I am unavailable via phone.
None of the above qualify as giving me a quote, perhaps you may think it does. I'll put up a poll so after my readers see the entire series of events, they can decide for themselves.
I see no purpose in discussing this further.
(the rest of this was exactly what I got from them, including the hodge-podge attempt to quote my previous email, at least I think that's what they were trying to do) From: <
